So you've come this far, have you? Well, I guess it's only proper to tell you about why my life is worth reading.
I was born in April. The day after taxes. Yes, April 16th, 1986. Which means, mama always had a gooood birthday party. (to bad for my sister, who was born on Labor Day!) My mother was a young beautiful lady of only the age of 15 years young. My father was only 18, and for what ever reason, they did not stay together.
It wasn't long after that, that she met my step father. A tall white guy with loafers long hair and a goofy grin. He's raised me all my life, and I don't know where I would be with out him in my life. LOVE YOU DADS! Well, after a while, it was only natural for my dad to take my mom and show her a new world. So my mother and her new tot where off like Christopher Columbus. Looking for new lands and new people. They landed in Durango, Colorado. That's where my best friend was born. Her name is Kathy. Shout out to ma sista!!
Anyways, I have the fondest memory of pink footy pajamas, a camp fire, and a cold morning.
So lets fast forward a bit shall we.... this is the part where we move...Alot.
We move to Florida, we move to Texas, my sister Ashley is born, move back to Florida, my brother Christopher is born , move back to Texas, move back to Florida, my parents divorce, move back to Texas, stay with cousins.,I just want to stop for a moment and tell you that my cousins, all boys, would chase us down while trying to pee on us... no.good..... Ya'll know who you are. So, wemove back to Florida, mom remarries, move back to Texas, mom divorces, move to Austin, TX, where I went to my first middle school as an 8th grader.
OK! Really quick, I have to share this story. Why? Because it's my blog and I'll do what I want.... besides who doesn't like someone else's dirt.... OK. That is all. Carry on.
Super scary, especially since that just so happened to be the day I got a full on Niagara falls period. Yep. I had to keep changing, and my mom was late for work. Not that it matters, but she kept rushing me, and I had no idea what to do. Looking back on it now, I feel these unsettling emotions in the pit of my tummy , because I can see my mom's face, and how concerned she really is. She really wanted to help me through it all, but she had to go. She was running late. I can hear it in her voice, she says " ah, Vanessita, honey, just go to the bathroom and wrap a bunch of toilet paper around your hand, and then lay it in your chonies." That moment. I was on my own, in a brand new school, on my period.
I think about my own children, and how I know that there are choices that have to be made, and that they won't understand right then and there. We only hope that as parent's we are doing the right thing by letting them figure it out, even though we REALLY want to help them.
Wow, I didn't expect to have these emotions come up. Am I on my period?!?
*deep breath, - inhale - exhale*
How's that for a chick moment. For any of you guys reading this... I refuse to apologize for that.
So let's get back on subject . After that school, we went to Arizona. Land of the dry, itchy , skin. Then back to Austin , then back to my hometown Lamesa. So listen, I've left out ALOT of gory, growing, disturbing, beautifully enriching stories. And when I get around to it, I'll put it all on my e-book for you to dive right in. Because hey, who doesn't like a good dirty story on some else's life. It makes us feel happy that what we have isn't really that bad. SO BE GRATEFUL!
Onward please.
So after a bad break up, teary good bye on a Grey hound and another trip back to AZ, I found myself back in with mom and dad! And then I remembered why I had moved out to begin with. Just saying. So, one day, I'm reading the classifieds, and I see this ad. It goes something like this" Awesome first job! Travel around and make money!" sounds promising, so I call it. 3 day's later i'm on a bus on my way to Sunnyville, CA. HOLY CRAP-O-LA!! Of course, I had told my self that this trip was for me to find myself. To figure out what I really wanted out of life. And you know what I found...Joseph Slichter. (que in sparkle background music) beautiful, smart, funny, competitive, great smile , quirky Joe. After leaving Hawaii, we made our way to Sunny Beautiful Davis, CA.
So there really is quite a lot of stuff to tell you, but, I'ma gonna have to make you wait. Here's where I'm at now, still in Davis, 3 beautiful children, a dog and my best friend, together under one roof. We have big hairy audacious goals in front of us, that are just with in reach. I'm working on a book, and I'm working on my next project, how to be just like Carolyn Ingalls. I home school my children, play dress up from time to time and I make sure to always have time for tea. Speaking of which..........
