Passion based learning is when you follow your children's passion's and formulate a curriculum around it. Think of it as a unit study on steroids.  My oldest son has taken to rocks,gems and minerals. So we joined the local rock and mineral club. We devoured every book we could on the subject, designed experiments for science , like growing crystals, and we go rock hunting often. History gets taught as we pick up an artifact and visit local ruins. You can get as creative as you want when it comes to your child's passions. Before you know it , they have become little experts in that known field. For some children, they carry on this passion, and for others it changes over time. The goal for passion based learning is to use it as a foundation for their education needs and watch them flourish in their field of choice.
